LASIK

lasik, Lasik, laser assisted keratomileusis,LASIKLasik is a laser refractive procedure. It stands for laser assisted in situ keratomileusis. In LASIK, a microkeratome is first used to create a very thin flap of corneal tissue. This instrument is analogous to a carpenter's plane. Then the laser treatment is performed with the excimer laser. Finally the flap is is put back in place to cover the laser-treated area. While there is a faster return of vision with lasik, the long term results are about equal to those of PRK.

Learn about LASIK and LASIK eye surgery as well as today's other exciting refractive surgery procedures designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses and contact lenses.
In addition to LASIK, the most important myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia refractive procedures are discussed here and more will be added as they are developed.
Please, go ahead and get started learning about LASIK and the other exciting technologies available right now. LASIK surgery and other refractive procedures are discussed.
